Cars.ng: Exploratory Testing
Introduction
Cars.ng, as the name probably suggests. is an online car market place where people in Nigeria can buy and sell cars easily. The platform is relatively new and as part of my recent internship role, I was tasked to perform an exploratory test on the site.
On the task, I found and documented a couple of bugs, UI/UX issues and inconsistencies. The major aim of the blog post is to enumerate them, share my bug report and then suggest a couple of areas for improvement.
Testing Methodology
Browser Used: Google Chrome Chrome (Version 132.0.6834.160)
Devices Used: Dell Latitude PC and Infinix note 11
Main tested modules: Sign up/ Login process, Home Page, Car Listing Process and Responsiveness on mobile
My findings were enumerated here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iuWfNj9XLSE3BAi77wXl_4ey3-nBAFAjICHywFmto1U/
Improvement Suggestions
On the basis of my tests, here are a few segments that I think needs improvements:
Image Handling: Make sure that all listed or displayed cars on the website have valid and properly formatted images.
Mobile Responsiveness: Many users especially in Nigeria will access the site via mobile so it makes sense to ensure the platform looks as good, if not better on mobile devices.
Improve Speed: The speed at which pages are rendered can be improved upon to enhance user experience.
AI use: Since artificial intelligence is all the rave right now, it would be great to have some aspects of the platform utilise AI. For example, sellers using AI to come up with optimal prices to sell their cars on the basis of model, mileage etc.
Loan/ Insurance Integration: It would also be nice if the platform integrates functionality for buyers to source loans to buy cars internally. The platform can claim a share of the interest as well.
